This is my first final outcome
in process from my colour project, I chose red, so therefore I chose
white clay with a red slip, and I think my carving came out better than I
expected it to. My idea of this bowl came from my grandmothers interest in
birds, I was out the back with my grandmother, we were bird watching then a
family of robins flew into our back garden, looking at their red feathers I
realised I had some in my home. When it came to the design I first
wanted to write 'RED' all over the bowl but after doing tester pieces I realised
it looked too plain, so I went back to my sketch book and looked at some of the
objects I had collected. I found the feather i was looking for then after about six different design
ideas I realised I had not tried doing different sized feathers and I much
preferred it like that, so I spend time carving this bowl making sure I had
enough detail to make them look a little realistic.
